P&O Cruises – Refurbishment of Oceana, Ventura & Arcadia

P&O Cruises have announced that they are going to be making significant improvements to three members of the P&O fleet over the next few months with a multi-million pound technical and refurbishment programme.

Oceana, Ventura and Arcadia are to see some exciting changes in the coming months, from adding single cabins onboard to introducing The Glass House on Ventura and smartening up Oceana inside and out.

OCEANA
Between 5th and 20th December 2012 Oceana will be given a refresh with a range of changes designed to upgrade her facilities.
P&O Cruises are spending £1m on the cabins to ensure they remain looking their best and continue to provide a stylish and comfortable retreat at the end of a long day exploring. While Marco fans will also be pleased to note that Cafe Jardin will offer a new Marco Pierre White menu in the evening.

But perhaps the biggest change will be to Oceana’s nightclub, Le Club, which will be completely redesigned and revamped with new seating, a subtle colour palette, and an inviting snug area. New lighting, sound and AV equipment including flat screen televisions will be added too, making the venue equally suited to daytime, as it is evening, entertainment.

Her 15 nights in dry dock will also enable P&O Cruises to make other improvements such as refreshing the carpets and upholstery in addition to refurbishing The Plaza and areas of her Oasis Spa and shops.

Horizon Grill will also receive new furnishings to maintain the pleasant dining experience this venue offers and they will re-purpose the space currently occupied by the golf simulator to provide a new aerobic studio.

VENTURA
To some it may seem like just yesterday that Ventura was launched, but in fact its been 4 years since godmother Helen Mirren (and squad of abseiling marines) broke the all important bottle of bubbly to welcome Ventura to the fleet.

Since that time Venturas sister ship, Azura, has also been introduced to the fleet bringing the first single cabins – an addition that has proved particularly popular. 18 new single cabins are therefore planned for Ventura, to be housed adjacent to the Exchange Bar and Fortunes casino.

If you have sampled the delights of Azura’s wine bar and restaurant, The Glass House, you will be pleased to know that Ventura is soon to have her very own. Ramblas will change name to become The Glass House wine bar where you will be able to choose to dine on dishes that have proven popular with Azura passengers and you will also be able to choose from a fantastic range of wines by the glass with the enomatic wine system – perfect for wine sampling.

Ventura is soon to have an idyllic spot with the addition of The Retreat – a place where you can indulge in the al fresco spa treatment as you soak up the sunshine and the ocean waves.

P&O Cruises will also introduce a great new dance floor in Venturas spectacular atrium, as on Azura, where where you can enjoy lessons during the day or a spot of late night dancing to the sound of a live band.

The entire ship is wi-fi enabled so you can use your own devices where you choose. That means all change for her CyberStudy, which will become the new library, with fixed PC’s. Her current library will become a chic new perfume shop.

P&O Cruises hopes to announce some exciting news about Ventura’s East restaurant in the very near future.

These changes are due to take place 22nd March to 7th April 2013.

ARCADIA
In December 2013, just in time for her 2014 World Cruise, Arcadia is due to spend 20 nights in dry dock  but the changes are sure to be worth the wait. She will come out of refit with 10 single new cabins, to be added to deck 2, replacing some of the area taken up Monte Carlo casino and Electra nightclub.
Replacing Electra The Globe will become her late night dancing venue and will be smartly enclosed with new glass wall designed to reduce the degree to which sound travels from the venue, as well as improve the sound quality, creating the perfect environment for the variety of entertainment found on its stage.
Plans are also afoot to freshen up many of her cabins, ensuring the remain comfortable, stylish retreats.
Fans of Marco Pierre Whites Ocean Grill can look forward to a new look and feel in this special restaurant with new reception, carpet and improved seating.
P&O Cruises hopes to share some exciting news re The Orchid Restaurant soon.

Arcadias many shops will be refitted to enhance the shopping experience.
Crows Nest will be refreshed with newly refurbished seating and the creation of an intimate space, making this sociable room even more suited to pre or post dinner drinks.
